Officer Testimonials
Hear from the officers and staff of Sterling Police Department
"Being from this area, my job as a police officer feels more rewarding. Being able to give back to the community that I had such fond memories of is one of the reasons I love my job. It's crazy how everything has come full circle — I feel like I am meant to be here.
For the past 9 years, I have been provided the best training and opportunities I could ask for. Hopefully the positive impacts I make within this community will have positive outcomes for the generations to come."
"Bravery is not the absence of fear, but action in the face of fear."
Sgt. Anthony Adamson
Sergeant · 9 Years
"I began my career with the Sterling Police Department as a high school intern, never imagining it would turn into a 28-year journey in the Records Division. I've been proud to serve in the behind-the-scenes role that helps keep our department running smoothly and our officers supported.
It has been incredibly rewarding to grow alongside this department and be part of a team that truly makes a difference."
"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go." — Dr. Seuss

"Being a police officer is about more than enforcing the law — it is about service, presence, and integrity. It means showing up for the community, building trust through everyday interactions, and making a positive difference, even in the smallest moments.
Over the past two and a half years, Sterling PD has provided me with extensive training that has strengthened my knowledge and reinforced the importance of professionalism."
"Be the change you want to see in the world." — Mahatma Gandhi

"Having been born and raised in Chicago, then serving as a Chicago Police officer for over a decade — here in Sterling, I have found that one singular officer truly can make a difference. The relationships developed with the community have been overwhelming, and their willingness to support us have been instrumental in making that relationship two-way.
For the past 10 years, Sterling PD has shaped how I see the profession. There is accountability here and a commitment to bettering oneself as an officer and a leader."
"Ego clouds and disrupts everything: the planning process, the ability to take good advice, and the ability to take constructive criticism." — Jocko Willink
Sgt. Harry Blomstrand
Sergeant · 10 Years
"I moved to Sterling a little over 4 years ago from Georgia — nervous, a new mom, and unsure of my career path. I have always wanted to help people and better understand them, which pushed me toward a criminal justice degree. I fell in love with the field and knowing I could be part of a career that would directly influence people.
After moving to the area, I knew I wanted to work for Sterling PD. In over two years here, I have grown as a person and a police officer, and I owe that to SPD."
"Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does." — William James
